The three orangutans Bert, Bodo and Joni live in the zoo in a beautiful monkey house. They have everything an ape could wish for: big stones to hide, trees to climb, ropes to swing and enough carrots to feed on. But something is missing for the three of them to be happy. They long to get outside. Because outside, another monkey once said, everything is much nicer and better. Thus, they come up with a nifty plan and embark on an adventure.
